Blue Palace is one of the historic castles in Jordan. The Blue Palace, or the Blue Castle of the Black Basalt, was built in the center of the oasis of Azraq, a hundred kilometers east of Amman, the capital of Jordan, and was originally built as a fortress for Nabatians or Romans. In the 13th century AD The Blue Oasis is the only permanent source of clean water in the surrounding desert, which is about 12,000 square miles, so this oasis attracts large numbers of migratory birds en route to its destination.

A number of sources indicate that the Greeks and Romans were the first to establish this fortress, which was used or rebuilt or repaired and restored by the Byzantines, the Umayyads, the Turks, the Ayyubid, the Mamluks and the Arabs. The inscriptions inscribed on the stones inside the castle indicate that the castle was built for the benefit of Emperor Diocletian and the Emperor Maximian between 285 and 305 AD. Other writings, named after the emperors Juffian, date back to 363 CE, In its construction, the Umayyads rebuilt the castle and set up a series of walls and dams during the reign of the second Walid bin Abdul Malik during the succession of his uncle Hisham ibn Abd al-Malik. In the days of the Great Arab Revolt, Lawrence of Arabia took the castle from the base.

He had a room for meetings and receptions, still located above the main entrance to the castle, where a number of energies, halls, doors and a main lobby. When he left, he took Sharif al-Harithi, a base for military operations. As commander of the Northern Army, he launched his final assault on the Turks from this castle.

The castle is a huge rectangular building with dimensions ranging from 72 meters to 80 meters. The castle is built of black basalt black volcanic stones. It consists of three floors, two of which are still visible. The castle contains several towers, several entrances, a mosque, rooms, , Jars, stables, drawers, trenches, energies, corridors, arches, stone doors These doors weigh between 1 ton and 2 tons. The first is located in the main entrance and the second is located in the western entrance of the castle.

Implemented Projects: The Department of Antiquities has restored and rehabilitated some of the castle's rooms in addition to the restoration of the southwestern façades of the citadel and its development and the preparation of old wooden doors in the old style.
