Tal El-Gador is located in the center of the city of (Salt) is currently a mountain standing on the beginning of the valley of Shu'ayb and Yanbu from the bottom of the hill of Ain al-Gador, and the word wall of the old name of Tal el-Gador appeared in the book of the war of the Jews in 70 AD, and in the time of the Romans when Pompey divided the Levant and Syria, The governor of the state divided the Hashemite Kingdom into five regions, including Al-Gador. It should be noted that there is a religious site for the Prophet Gad, where it is said that the hill took the designation of the existence of the shrine.
Tal El-Gador is considered one of the most important archaeological hills in the province of Balqa. The name of the site was mentioned in ancient sources more than once as a wall. The site has ancient monuments dating back to the Bronze Age, the Roman and the Byzantine Ages.
The excavations carried out in the years 2004-2005 revealed the defensive wall dating back to the Middle Bronze Age 2000-1550 BC, which was built of uncut stone and solid clay. The length of the discovered wall is 16.20 m and its height is 3.30 m. Thus, Salt is one of the oldest cities Which has been surrounded by a defensive wall in the Middle East. The excavations revealed a small part of the wall that was encircling the city to defend it, which confirms the dense human habitations in and around the Salt region during the Bronze Ages, which also indicates the cultural role it played during the sensitive period of the history of the region in general. It is likely that the presence of the defensive wall around the city was the cause of the naming on the site, since the word wall in the language means the fence. Early Bronze Age tombs, dating to the end of the 3rd millennium BC, were found in and around the site. Roman baths, aqueducts and mosaic floors were found that date back to the Byzantine period. The project was funded by the Japanese project in cooperation with the Department of Antiquities and the Office of the effects of Salt at the site of the site and financed the construction of wooden gazebo and wooden fence over the defensive wall. Two tombs were unearthed in natural rock and were found at a depth of 5.5 m, dating back to the fourth period of the Early Bronze Age. And the importance of archaeological finds in the hill, it was decided that the discovered part of the wall and tombs next to it part of the tourist view to be implemented within the development project in the center of the city of Salt.
